School Visits

Professional development for teachers and administrators

At AEBLL, our overarching goals are to help schools:

  • gain clarity around the linguistic demands of school;
  • grow expertise in the science of language acquisition and literacy;
  • analyze curriculum linguistically and implement evidence-based practices;
  • create goals for oral language, reading, and writing development;
  • practice integrating linguistic instruction with content.

Our services include:

  • customized in-person (or remote) training in evidence-based practices for emergent bilinguals and students with disabilities (oral language and vocabulary development; written language development; scaffolding instruction);
  • Program and curriculum development for Stand-Alone English as a New Language; training in phonics, morphology, and grammar for English language development.
  • customized classroom coaching in the four main content areas and Stand Alone ENL;
  • training in phonics instruction for PreK-2 teachers;
  • training in phonics and morphology for teachers of upper grades;
  • Program and curriculum development for Long Term English Language Learners and SIFE.

Dr. Ingrid Heidrick has worked with hundreds of teachers and administrators over the last ten years to improve outcomes for emergent bilingual students. She has developed long-term relationships with schools across NYC to offer continued support in improving student achievement.
