If you are an educational publisher or other entity interested in inquiring about my consulting services with regard to curriculum design, please contact me using the form below.
I have extensive professional experience designing and contributing to curricula for emergent bilinguals. During my studies at the Graduate Center, I worked on an academic research project funded by the NY State Education Department (NYSED), in which we produced specialized curricula for Students with Interrupted or Inconsistent Formal Education (SIFE). Since SIFE are adolescents with low literacy in their home language, this experience gave me profound insight into how to design curricula that delivers complex standards-based content with appropriate scaffolding.
Currently, as a professor at CUNY, where I teach and train future teachers of English as New Language (ENL), and as a professional development facilitator and instructional coach, I work with NYC teachers to adapt their school’s existing curricula to meet the language and literacy needs of emergent bilingual students.
I am also in the process of writing a brand new standards-based curriculum for middle school ENL stand-alone (‘pull-out services’), so stay tuned!
